| the play was intense. good, sad, funny. afterwards, we walked to the train station where we found a sign, "northbound trains not running due to construction. take #8 bus to fullerton." nice...so we did and surprisingly we did not get lost!
friday we went back downtown and ate at the billy goat tavern. it has been a long time since i've been there (it is the restaurant that saturday night live did the "Cheezeborger, cheezeborger, cheezeborger! No pepsi, coke!" skit about. they really do yell a bit at you but it is all in good fun and good food. we then trekked to the museum of contemporary art gift shop, where we met my cousin. she directed us to Union Station where we caught a Metra train to Ravinia. there, we watched fiona apple and nicklecreek. it was amazing.
saturday we woke up, packed, ate breakfast at the farmer's market, had lunch with my cousin and her husband at the pub one last time and took the train to the airport.
8 days 7 nights in chicago. i hated to leave. i've got such mixed emotions about living there. it would be great. the people there are awesome, there is always something we are interested in playing, performing, exhibiting. working there could be scary. commuting would be irritating. however, there is something in the air in chicago, whether in summer or winter. there is definitely an attraction there for me. maybe it is the fact we on vacation or maybe it is the city but i feel more like myself there.

| we've been here since saturday and we have...
enjoyed a bbq with my cousin in wrigleyville and caught a ride to evanston. rode our bikes to a local grocery store for some lunch goodies (my aunt and uncle are out of town so we are on foot). rode the train downtown to check in to our hotel. watched the bears practice at soldier field. one word to describe: URLACHER! walked by Grant Park to hear Pearl Jam close their show at Lolapalooza. ate at Giordano's. thank goodness they are open late. i think i drank a gallon of water. crashed at the hotel and woke up at 10 am. I love vacation. drank a machiato (jake a coffee) at intelligentsia. smoothest espresso i have ever had. currently, at the Apple store lusting over an iPhone and a MacBook Pro.
and the vacation is just beginning. no plans yet until friday, Fiona Apple and Nicklecreek at Ravinia: $15.
i may never go back to work.
